Have I ever talked about the nanights? What are nanights you ask? Well in your home they could be called blankies, woobies, snuggies, compadres, best friends, cuddles, whatever you call them they are the companions that your children can't seem to sleep with out. OR they can't leave the house with out! Well those are what we call nanights. Don't ask me where we got the name, I'm sure it was from Luke long ago. Funny thing these blankets, you are never sure why your child chooses the one that they do. For instance is it the texture, the way they feel, the strings (I'll get back to that) or color.
Lets talk about Lukes, his was given to him by Karen Terui a mom of a friend of mine. She loves Peter Rabbit that is why she bought this hence the Peter Rabbit in the left hand corner. Luke loved this blanket from the beginning. The material was similar to many others we had bought or even received. But he liked this one. I think it is because the way of the strings and how he could wrapp his finger through them. This is his favorite thing. The strings have pulled out in many places and when it went through the washer and dryer it balled up. So he grabs one of his favorite balls and rubs them between his fingers and falls asleep. It is the ugliest looking blanket, you know the one that Linus pulls around that has no real shape? Yeah that is what Lukes looks like.
Now lets talk about Logan's. Logan's was given to him by Kathy McClanahan from our ward. It is brown and cream and has large stars on it. He LOVES this blanket, I mean LOVES it! We don't leave home with out it. "Ni" as he calls it is his number compadre, use it for everything, cleaning up, carrying things, wipe his face, wipe his nose, baby chewing gum, sucks on it, sleeps with it (naturally). You name it he uses it. To calm himself down he takes one of them blankets corner, and rubs it in between each one of his fingers. This blanket isn't ugly, yet but I'm sure one day it will be.
Oh for the Nanights!
Last night Dave stayed late at school again trying to finish up school stuff. So I decided to watch The Prestige (by the way great movie I really want to see it again) while I folded laundry. As I was getting ready to go to bed guess who decides to cry and wants a BABA? You guessed it, Logan. My dear sweet baby Logan. Sleeping is just not seem to be his thing, well. . . neither is eating. Anyway I thought that I would first just let him cry it out because he talks in his sleep and wakes himself up aaallll the time. Of course like most of the nights he is being super persistent and won't give up. So I go in there get him and take him down stairs feed him a bottle, hold him, kiss him and get him all snuggly warm. He shows the signs of wanting to go to bed so I take him back upstairs and put him down. All is well. I have learned never to go back to bed myself right away because you only get more angry and frustrated with the baby if he starts to cry again. So I usually go back downstairs read or watch TV and wait till I know for sure that they are fast asleep. 30 minutes go by and I think he is asleep so I turn the volume down and hear him wimpering then the door open and very loud cries! Great, I go upstairs to find Luke in my room, sitting on my side of the bed crying, while Dave is sleeping soundly. I grab Luke ask what is wrong and he tells me that his ear hurts. Luke just got over an ear infection no more that a week ago. In the backround Logan is still screaming more in protest because Luke is up. So I take Luke back down stairs and all he keeps saying is that his ear hurts and that he really just wants to go to bed. I decided that I should give Luke some Motrin for the pain and we both lay on the couch drink some hot chocolate waiting for Logan to fall asleep. Well 2 1/2 hourse later he finally does and Luke and I go back upstairs to our beds at 3:00am. I am exhausted by this point and just want to sleep in. Luke decides to wake me up at 6:30a because his ear hurts. So I get up and fix him breakfast and give him Mortin. Logan wakes up at 8 only because of all the crying he did. I call the Dr. make an appointment for Luke and Logan. We go to see the Dr., he checks the boys out and thankfully Logan is all better but Luke has another ear infection. Poor guy I feel so bad for him. As I am typing this both boys are sleeping and I'm thinking I might do the same. So farewell.
A couple of weeks ago I took the boys to the doctor without an appointment and wanted them to be seen. I didn't care who just someone. Both of them were up at 10:30p, 1:30a & 3:30a with fevers and complaining that there ears ached. Luke has a very high threshold of pain so I knew something was up. So I through on some shoes and headed to the doctor at 8am and asked to be seen. The front desk receptionist is like "You understand that this is not a walk in clinic, right?" I said "Yeah but there has to be someone a Doctor, Physicians Assistant, Nurse Practioner that can see my boys right now!" She says, "Let me check my computer." She checks schedules and sees that a doctor has an opening and can see me now! So I go to Dr. Ritchies office and they call us in. They check and get all vitals ask what is wrong and we wait. Then the Dr. comes in checks the boys ears right off and tells me they both have ear infections. So he writes up the antibiotic and asks me where I get my prescriptions I say Target and he says great I'll send it over there. Awesome guy, couldn't say anything bad about him. I do have to gripe about something though. I took Logan to our regular pediatrician 2 times before this visit, in fact just the week prior and was told that he was perfectly fine. AAGHHH! I'm just grateful that they are all healthy.
