Eclipse Midnight Showing

Yes we (me and my High School girlfriends) are those fans!  

My dear friend Valerie was in town for vacation and also the birth of her sisters baby. (Congrats Michelle!)  She loves to do fun giddy school girl things and since she was in town for this she bought us all IMAX tickets to see the midnight showing of Eclipse.  She got us wax vampire lips, blood soda and sweethearts Twilight candy.  (Oh Val, you need to live closer.)  Deb showed up just shortly after we all arrived and surprised us with our sugar fix so we could last through the movie!  Yogurtland, MMMMM, yummy! Thanks Deb it was awesome!  Rachel even decided to stick around to see it even though she didn't even read the series or watch the previous movies, she was a real trooper.  I was commentating through the whole movie and by the way when you do that to a person who has never seen them or really know what they are about it sounds really stupid.  But anyway it was fun.  Thanks Val for a super fun night!

Anniversary Recap

For our anniversary we decided to treat ourselves with our annual sushi trip.  But this year we tried someplace new (thanks Rach!) Samurai Sushi off of La Paz.  It was Super Yummy!  We then walked around Target by ourselves, I know super glamourous.  But we had to get some thing for Sunday.  After that I surprised Dave to a Fondue restaurant  and had dessert.  We picked from a whole list of different chocolates and settled on a dark chocolate with whipped cream on top that sounded good.  WE had a whole plate of gooodies, marshmallows, fruit, peanut butter balls, angel food cake and so much more.  By then we felt sick and headed home.  Simple little date but fun because we tried some new things.  For us that is huge we are creatures of habit!

6 years and Counting

Today is our six year wedding anniversary.  Can't believe how fast it has gone.  More details to follow. . . 

Temple

David and I went to the temple last night and did a sealing session.  AAhhhh, I feel so much better!  It is amazing what the temple does for your heart, mind and soul.  I woke am feeling relaxed, peaceful and that I could handle my children today. (Luke has been extremely difficult lately, I didn't think I wated more children after the last couple of days.  No really I'm serious.  Now I am reconsidering it.)  I love the feeling of no stress and that's a good thing considering we have a really full weekend and I need to be sain and pleasant! I love that I can get all that I need to do accomlished.  I already I checked off 3 things on my to do list and my kids have been Heavenly and it is only 10am!  I'm grateful that I can go to the temple and regain myself and come back a better person.  If you are feeling like I have been I urge you to go to the temple, I promise your life will benefit from it.  What your not LDS and can't go in?  Well call me and we'll walk to grounds, you can still feel the spirit and the love of your Heavenly Father there also.

Spring Break!

I know I should update you on what happened over Easter and blog about my favorite things, but this is what has happened since Luke has been on Spring Break, Logan got another ear infection, Dave's school schedule has been winding down (the semester is almost over! YAY!), so he has been home more and I've been attached to a few good books. 

This is what my laundry situation is. . .

But wait times that by 2 because the washer can't hold that much so in reality I have 14!

Read While the Sun is Up

Last Sunday we had our Relief Society Conference and was taught so many wonderful things.  Had wonderful speakers and I truly was touched and inspired to be a better person, wife, mom and friend.  I was visiting with my good friend Erin and we were discussing Lisa Spices' talk on personal scripture study.  Lisa had talked about making sure that you read your scriptures while the sun is still up and to be sure to read your scriptures in front of your children.  Erin and I agreed that reading with little children around can be distracting and not easy to retain what you are reading.  But she did say that the first thing she does is read them right after she puts her girls down for a nap.  She says that, that it is her alone time and it's the first thing she does before eating or anything.  I thought to myself that is truly a great idea.  (Genius Erin, truly I wish I would have thought of it myself, but if it is okay with you I'll just steal the idea!)  Anyway when I dropped Luke off at school Logan fell asleep as usual on the way home.  I put him in his bed and decided to make lunch.  Then I remembered Erin's routine and immediately grabbed my srciptures and started to read.  I finished up and the proceded to go about my day.  I guess I didn't think that there would be that much of a transformation in me but let me just tell you. . . there was.  I was not as short tempered as I uasually am.  My voice seemed to be soft, caring and low, no yelling.  I was happier and waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more patient with the boys.  I still feel at peace and calm even writing this at 9:30pm. 

 So my challenge to all you ladies out there who are feeling overwhelmed and stressed read your scriptures when the sun is up I promise you it will make a difference in your day!  What, you say you don't have time?  You don't have scriptures?  Well if you say you don't have time that is untrue make the time and you will be blessed, I'm going to because I truly feel that much better.  (Rachel you know what I mean, you know how stressed am I!)  And if you don't have scriptures leave a comment and I will buy you some this is how passionate I feel about it.  This simple act has made my testimony grow and strengthen in the area of scripture study.

My Birthday Review

My birthday started off with Visiting Teaching Jamie. What a better way to start your birthday than with service and visiting with a sister that you like! Jamie had just cleaned out her closet and gave me armfuls a clothes. Thanks Jamie you made my day! Then I met my mom for lunch at Round Table buffet. I received many texts and phone calls wishing me a Happy Birthday. Dave and I have been searching for USB flash drives to save pictures and Staples was having a sale 4GB for $7.99 such a steal so I bought 2! Dave came home early so we could go to dinner. We decided to stay close so we went to El Torito Grill ( we love the homemade tortillas!). It was not crowded at all it was so nice. Walked over to Borders books to look around then got a phone call from Luke, "Hey mom! You commin' home? We got cake and balloons! You commin' home?" So we headed home to chocolate cake and orange balloons.(Luke said that orange was my favorite color, but it really is his!) We didn't have candles except for numeric candles 1 & 2 so Luke chose number 1. The rest is on the video, it says it all.



Dave did give me his homemade card check it out.



Luke is now anticipating his birthday because is mine is over! It was a great day no fighting with the boys just mellow and relaxing and oh yeah, a BEAUTIFUL day!

Childhood Memory #7

Disneyland has been a huge thrill in my life from the very beginning.  Here we are Disneyland 1989 standing in front of Dumbo!  In the picture from left to right is Adam and Kristen Epson, Kyle and Me.  What amazing is that we started going to Disneyland even earlier than this with the Epson's every year.  And we still do!  I have the pictures to prove it.  Out of us 5 kids, 4 of us are married, Kristen has 2 boys, I have 2 boys.  We all try to go together every year around Marilyn's birthday in June.  (My mom's best friend since she was 13!)  Good memories that I hope continue.

Childhood Memory #6

Let Me Entertain You!  

That was the name of our show, little saucy title, but couldn't have been more innocent.  4-5 years standing up on stage following their dance teacher, acting as if they have never done this performance before in their life.  You know what I mean, we were all up there doing our own version, totally off time.  But all in all we still looked amazing!  (To our parents!)  I remember after the show my mom took me in the reception area sat me down, told me I looked so good and put a corsage on my wrist.  I thought it was the most beautiful thing ever!

Childhood Memory #4

Remember how I was going to blog about childhood memories, I've obviously been slacking.  But I came across this photo yesterday and had to post it.  This was my Kindergarten picture,  I remember the day well.  They kept telling me to sit up straight and smile.  I smiled but was to shy to sit up straight.  (See honey I always had bad posture!)  Later that day we were standing in line for something and the little girl behind me was mad because I was first and pulled at my vest and ripped the buttons off in the front.  I was sooo upset.  Of course my mom being the wonderful seamstress that she is fixed up like brand new!

Traffic

Did anyone hear about the grenade on the 5 south freeway?  And how they closed it for 2 hours?  Yeah well I did because I was caught in the traffic for with no where to go.  I was down in San Diego checking out some Wholesale Floral Supply stores.  (By the way FABULOUS!  Wish they were closer.) We were heading back and got caught in this.  It took us so long that I had to bribe the boys, but in reality reward them for being so good.  We drove through McDonalds and got Fudge Sundaes!  Ice cream fixes everything.

Childhood Memory #2

LITTLE LEAGUE

So your totally going to laugh when you see this picture.  I totally remember this day and still cringe when I look at these photos.

We forgot that it was picture day and got a call from the coach that we needed to get down there.  So I put on my uniform and headed down to the park.  I remember getting my picture back and hated that I forgot to take off my cinderella watch and that I hadn't fixed my hair.  Do you blame me!  I love the title "Future Pro Star Seeks MVP Season."  I think they meant that for someone else I don't think I was ever awarded MVP OR aspired to be.

It was my first and only year playing T-Ball thank goodness I was the only girl and all I remember about the season was hysterically giggling with this little boy named David.  All we did was giggle and laugh.  I don't remember much about the season except hitting off the T-Ball stand and running to first base.  I do remember my Dad being very excited that I had expressed interest in sports and he went out and bought my a bat, glove, T-Ball stand and white cleats!  Yep white cleats!  I know it isn't that ridiculous, I was the kid that her parents bought her white cleats, I usually laughed at those guys. Oohh little league what good times!
